What Equipment Does the Starch Processing Line Include?

The cassava starch processing is a physical process in which the material in the cassava raw material is separated from the starch granules by the use of professional starch extraction equipment based on the nature of starch insoluble in cold water and the specific gravity is greater than that of water.


In the process of cassava starch processing, a lot of water is used, and finally the starch is separated from the water suspension by means of professional dehydration and drying to obtain dry and delicate pure dry starch.


In this whole set of production and processing processes, a variety of equipment with different functions will be used, and different sections and different equipment will perform their duties to extract starch quickly and effectively. So what equipment does a complete cassava starch production line include? In actual processing, must all equipment be purchased and used?


Ⅰ. Cassava starch processing process

The complete process of automated cassava starch processing includes: cleaning-crushing-sieving and filtering-degreasing and desilting-concentration and refining-dehydration-drying. In the actual cassava starch processing and production, because each person decides to use different starch production processes, The performance, quantity, and configuration of the matched equipment are also different.


However, not everyone has to purchase a complete set of equipment, and it is still necessary to choose starch equipment based on personal capital investment, processing volume, site, and processing technology. First of all, let everyone know what equipment is included in each processing section, so that you can easily choose the one that is suitable for your use.


Ⅱ. Equipment included in the cassava starch processing

1. Cleaning section

The purpose of cleaning is to remove cassava epidermal sediment, reduce the difficulty of subsequent crushing and purification, and help ensure the taste of starch. There are many cleaning methods, corresponding to cleaning equipment with many different functions: dry cleaning machine, stone cleaning machine, paddle cleaning machine, inclined squirrel cage cleaning machine, conveyor. The required equipment can be selected according to the processing volume of cassava starch and the desired cleaning effect, and there is no rigid requirement.


2. Crushing section

The purpose of crushing is to destroy the tissue structure of cassava, so that the tiny starch granules can be smoothly disintegrated and separated from the tuber. Crushing is a very important part of the processing of cassava starch, which is directly related to the flour extraction rate, starch output and quality. Generally, users are advised to choose a special cassava flour mixer with large processing capacity, good performance, thorough crushing, and high extraction rate when crushing. There are two main types of Goodway crushing equipment (powdering machine):


① Curved-net extrusion type powder mill: The king-brand powder mill developed with great concentration. It can process 3-10 tons of fresh potatoes per hour. The unique nail piercing roller is hard and wear-resistant, and the crushing is fine and uniform, ensuring continuous operation. Multi-stage combined sorting crushing can fully release free starch granules.


② Overflow panning type flour mill: It processes 2-3 tons of fresh potatoes per hour, which is more suitable for small processing workshops. The equipment occupies a small area, has sufficient power, simple operation and good filtration rate.


3. Screening and filtering section

As the name implies, the purpose of filtering the impurities of potato residue is to purify starch and remove impurities such as potato residue fiber remaining during crushing. The filtration equipment allows the starch slurry to pass through the screen mesh by means of non-pressure percolation, leaving the fine residue on the net, so that the starch slurry is further filtered out. Different filter equipment meshes have different filtering effects. Mainly include: fine filter and hexagonal micro filter. The more filtration passes, the higher the purity of the starch, and the user can choose how many filtration equipment to purchase according to the desired starch purity.


4. Desanding and mud removal section

The purpose of cassava starch processing in this section is to remove the fine impurities in the starch. The remaining silt and gravel will affect the taste of the starch. The use of a desilter remover can solve the problem of jerky taste of the starch product.


5. Concentration and refining section

The starch cyclone station used in this step of cassava starch processing is equivalent to the sedimentation tank used in traditional starch processing. The purpose is to separate a series of non-starch substances such as yellow powder, protein and pectin in starch slurry. It's just that the traditional sedimentation tank process is replaced by modern machinery and equipment, which solves the problems of open-air static precipitation, the starch is easily polluted, the processing cycle is long, and the efficiency is low. The theory is that the more stages equipped in the starch cyclone station, the deeper the degree of starch concentration and refinement, the higher the starch whiteness, but we do not recommend a too high stage to ensure high-quality starch whiteness.


6. Dehydration section

Wet starch is not easy to store, and it needs to be dehydrated and dried before it can be packed and transported normally, which is convenient for subsequent use. The wet starch directly from the launder generally has a moisture content of about 55%, and the thick emulsion separated by a disc separator and a hydrocyclone is generally 20 Baume, which needs to be centrifuged again. The dehydration equipment mainly includes: three foot centrifuge, vacuum dehydrator. In tapioca starch processing, a vacuum dehydrator is commonly used for starch dehydration, and the moisture content of the starch after dehydration is about 40%. And it has low speed, no noise, stable work, good work continuity and easy operation.


7. Drying section

In this section, the dehydrated wet starch is dried, and it only takes 3-5 seconds to dry instantaneously. Then enter the weighing and packaging process. The equipment pipeline is long and the height is higher, the greater the drying capacity, the higher the equipment height. Drying equipment replaces the natural drying method, which greatly shortens the production cycle. In the peak season of cassava starch processing, the production efficiency is accelerated, which can expand the production volume and bring huge profit margins.
